The fresh anointing of Dance 'n Praise Drama Ministry, complemented with a spirit of excellence, a heart for God and a love for His word, is touching the hearts of people throughout the Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis corridors. Many realize, that God has raised Dance 'n Praise — in this hour — to come out from the four walls of the local church to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through dance. It was in 1988, that the vision for a Christian dance ministry started. A dance ministry that excites people to worship,to rejoice and magnify Christ with a spirit and attitude of praise. It wasn't until the summer of 1998 that the vision materialized into a group that “presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ through dance, drama and praise”. This is the purpose of the ministry that started with a team of five young people. Over the past year, God has taken those faithful five and increased the ministry to include other young people and even adults. The ministry offers a family oriented program, one that encourages each student's dance and drama development by providing opportunities for them to choreograph, train, write and explore their own individual creativity. The Ministry offers an array of dance specialties including Liturgical Dance, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical Jazz, Hip Hop Jazz, African Dance, Calypso and Tap. Their performance locations include churches, nursing homes, schools, parks, area hospitals, community events, festivals, family reunions, weddings and conferences. Dance 'n Praise Cultural Arts Center's repertoire includes, the successful play “A Delivered People.” Performed during the 13th Annual Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival 2000 in Annapolis, MD. The ministry’s most heartfelt desire is to locate a facility large enough to host regular dance and theatrical programs that would be open to the community. It's their desire to incorporate a distinctive blend of drama productions written and performed by the dancers. When you see these dancers minister, you will soon know, no doubt, they are about their father’s business. This isn't an extracurricular activity for them — it's pure worship. For they know when they submit themselves as vessel's to the MOST HIGH GOD, they also experience what God does — not only for the dancers — but for their leadership, their families, and more importantly, you — their audience. |
